The Canmore General Hospital was built in 1984, and this is one of many upcoming facility upgrades that we will be working towards. “We’re very lucky to have the public health care system that we have, but there are certain things that individual communities would benefit from that the government won’t support or can’t support.”

— Dr. Mike Wickham, Emergency Physician Lead, Canmore General Hospital

“It's very tough for the hospital to provide optimal care without the support of the foundation.”

— Dr. Gert Du Plessis

"Every day I have the honor of working with the 23 seniors who live in our unit. I hear stories of hard times, weddings, fond memories of caring for children, grandchildren, and so much more. The one constant that comes up is stories about life in their ‘home’. Through this renovation, we have a wonderful opportunity to create a warm and welcoming long-term ‘home’ for our seniors to enjoy the remainder of their retirement years here in Canmore."

— -Katharine Scheel, Long-Term Care Manager at the Canmore Hospital

Our Programs

The Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation supports the Canmore General Hospital in fulfilling its needs that are not currently available through Alberta Health Services. Our contributions to the hospital include raising funds and managing capital. In addition, we support programs such as the ones you see on the following pages. We wish to assist the Canmore General Hospital and the very dedicated staff to provide the best health care possible to all residents in its service areas as well as visitors to our beautiful part of the world. Our equipment purchases are initiated by request from the Canmore General Hospital. Funds that you donate to specific units or programs within the hospital will only be used for that area according to your wishes.
