Foundation Letter to RMO Editor
On behalf of the Canmore & Area Health Care Foundation and its board of directors, I want to respond to the January 31 story in the Rocky Mountain Outlook about our emergency room campaign.
Our organization’s primary focus right now is the Feels Like Home long-term care enhancement project, but we launched the Emergency Room enhancement project because we know it is a worthwhile and much-needed project that will enhance patient care and support our frontline healthcare providers.
We are not here to subsidize AHS, but it is unrealistic to expect the public dollar to cover all needs all the time. What’s more, there is always going to be opportunities to make small and big differences for patients and healthcare teams that go above and beyond what the public dollar will cover.
That’s why the Canmore & Area Health Care Foundation exists. It’s why we have a volunteer board of tremendous community leaders who care about Canmore, and want our residents and visitors to have access to the best possible healthcare. And it’s why we are so grateful for our tremendous donors and volunteers who have helped us accomplish so much.
