SUPPORTING THE PRESENT, ENSURING THE FUTURE.

Programs

The Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation supports and assists the Canmore General Hospital in fulfilling its needs that are not currently available through Alberta Health Services. We do so through raising funds and managing capital. In addition, we support programs such as the ones you see on the following pages. We wish to assist the Canmore General Hospital and the very dedicated staff to provide the best health care possible to all residents of the hospital’s service areas as well as visitors to our beautiful part of the world.

Our equipment purchases and programs are initiated by request from the hospital. Along with the programs shown below, we support specific hospital departments, such as ER, Day Surgery, Physical Rehabilitation, Addictions and Mental Health, and many others.

Funds that you donate to a specific unit or program within the hospital will be used only for that area, according to your wishes. Please contact info@canmorehealthfoundation.com for details.

Bow Valley Health Care Scholarships

The Canmore & Area Health Care Foundation (CAHCF) and Canmore Hospital Ladies Auxiliary (LA) recognize the essential role that health care providers play in our community and the enormous tole that COVID 19 has taken on those working in the field. We believe that health care workers are champions, deserve our gratitude, encouragement, and support.

Hospital GardenS Program

The Hospital Gardens Program is one of many meaningful programs supported by the Foundation at the Canmore General Hospital. The program is entirely volunteer run and is appreciated by many in the community, including our patients. We bring the flowers, volunteers bring the green thumbs.

OMA

Opening Minds through Art (OMA) is a newly funded Foundation program, specifically for long-term care residents. OMA is an award-winning, evidence-based, intergenerational art-making program for people with Alzheimer’s disease. This is a new program at Canmore General Hospital.

Music Therapy

Since 2011, music therapy programs have helped to promote, maintain and restore mental, emotional and spiritual health. Relationships that participants experience here provide opportunities for interaction, self-expression and personal development.

Cancer Support

This Canmore-based initiative for cancer care developed and implemented programs such as music therapy, art therapy, yoga classes and meditation sessions to help engage patients within their vibrant local community and at the hospital.
