Update: Canmore Hospital Staff Room Renovation

A few months ago, the Canmore & Area Health Care Foundation announced an enormously generous gift from Pierre and Sylvie Doyon, valued members of our community. The Doyon’s contribution was provided to support the renovation of the staff rooms at the Canmore General Hospital.

“Our family has received exceptional healthcare and medical attention over the 20+ years we've been living in the Bow Valley,” said Pierre Doyon, “Our donation to enhance the staff room is one way to say thank you to the people directly responsible for all the good they have done and continue to do in delivering compassionate and competent health care in the Bow Valley.” 

While the insurmountable impact that our health care heroes have on the Bow Valley has come into the spotlight in recent years, these passionate individuals have been working tirelessly to look after the health of our community for decades. The Canmore General Hospital and the incredible staff have impacted each of our lives in some way. So, we are so pleased to have the opportunity to show them our appreciation.

There are three staff rooms at our hospital and they are in need of some serious love. This renovation project will begin with the Main Staff Room, followed by the ones for the Emergency Room and Long Term Care. 

This project began with the immense generosity of the Doyon family and that spirit has continued throughout. Following the initial donation, two talented local designers stepped up and donated their time and expertise to the project. 

We would like to extend a special thanks to Jessie Ashton of Nest Design and Drafting Studio and Aleks Zablotni-Schantz od Compass Design Co for their hard work on this project.

The generosity continued as Castle Mountain Home Furnishings offered significantly discounted furniture for the staff rooms. It really goes to show giving back to one’s community stretches far beyond the initial act. The Doyon’s have started something incredibly special and we cannot wait to provide our local hospital staff a comfortable and welcoming space to relax and recharge. 

As of now, we have all of our design elements in place and the next steps include flooring, counters, painting, and millwork.
