Soulafa Al-Abbasi One of AHP’s 40 Under 40 Honorees!

WASHINGTON, D.C., (August 26, 2019) – Soulafa Al-Abbasi from Canmore and Area Healthcare Foundation in Canmore, AB has been included in the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP) 2019 40 Under 40 honoree list.

The 40 Under 40 program is designed to recognize the future leaders within the health care philanthropy community. AHP is honoring these 40 young professionals because they are shaping the future of the health care development industry. Collectively, they are changing the world—one campaign at a time.

“These honorees are part of a select group of health care philanthropy who have demonstrated impressive career achievements, deep community involvement and the potential to be a leader in our profession for years to come,” said Alice Ayres, AHP president & CEO.

Steven Scott, CAHCF Board Chair, added that “Soulafa Al-Abbasi has been instrumental in moving the Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation into the 21st century. With her guidance and knowledge, we have dramatically expanded our presence in the community both in terms of outreach to ask for donations but more importantly in visibility so that the community recognizes the Foundation’s contributions to the Canmore hospital. She has developed a comprehensive online presence for the Foundation including multiple social media platforms and more recently local radio outlets have helped spread our message. She has a great vision for what she wants to achieve for our Foundation and is very self-motivated to get things done. Combined with her knowledge and dedication she has a real passion for her work. Her personality shines through when working with potential donors, hospital staff or Alberta Health Services. Anyone who meets Soulafa can see she cares deeply about what she does and I think that is a quality we just cannot put a value on. We have achieved so much in the three years and a half she has been our Executive Director because she is passionate about our cause and the Canmore hospital.”

Soulafa Al-Abbasi will be recognized at the 2019 AHP Annual International Conference October 23-26 in Washington, D.C. Recognition events will include an invitation-only breakfast and award dinner on Thursday, October 24, during the conference.
