Heroes Fundraiser - Email Silent Auction
A Canadian landscape artist, Erica Hawkes, was moved by the sacrifices healthcare teams are making. She used her talent to express her deep appreciation for healthcare workers, through the creation of a beautiful painting, which is being auctioned off with 100 per cent of the proceeds being donated to the Canmore General Hospital, through the Canmore and Area Health Care Foundation. Erica describes her motivation for this work of art in the quote below.
"The last few weeks have been strange. It has been surreal to watch as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds; watching the news has taken my breath away. The impact this pandemic is having on people everywhere is crushing. Looking through pictures on line, I came across a couple of pictures that brought me to tears: two health care workers, a man and a woman, had bruises on their faces from wearing their masks and goggles all day. Not only are health care workers putting patients ahead of their own comfort, but also ahead of their families as they work endless hours and might not get to go home.
I am a landscape artist and at the moment haven’t felt my usual urge to paint the landscapes I am usually inspired to paint. After seeing that picture I began to ask myself “What can I personally do to help?” With that question, HEROES came to be. This painting is a heartfelt thank you to all front-line heroes … your dedication and selflessness do not go unnoticed!"
